The High Hunter's Navy
The Voznayte Rekazhgrazhni Zhamra is the space fleet of Imperial Nalydya. Crafted from the aged Hochraumflotte that came before it, the VRZ is a seasoned branch with history that stretches back to the days of the Caedis Wars when the very first generation of modern Nalydian spacecraft, Generation I, took to the fabrics. Since those early days the VRZ has expanded tremendously and evolved to meet the changing needs of the nation. Currently, the VRZ operates with a headquarters on Yamsai and this is also where the premier school for officers, the Yamsai Naval Institute, is located.
Operational Thought
VRZ philosophy centers around force projection and the twin concepts of Combined Array Combat and Individual Battle. At the operational level, assets are organized into strict formations and these vessel-groupings rarely see time apart from one another. The largest of these types of groupings is the division, with formations above the division level often far more likely to see shuffling of their component-formations. Directly below the division, the brigade, formations also may be shuffled around as well with rarity increasing further down the organizational structure.
Because of the need for force projection, the primary defining feature of VRZ warships is their size. VRZ craft are large and with their heft afforded a vast durability. VRZ commanders use this durability to their advantage during battle: they know that their own ships more often than not are capable of weathering fire far more severe than what smaller vessels from other nations might field. This consequently led to the creation of the Combined Array Doctrine, a school of thought that places heavy emphasis on formation fighting, linked shields, and accurate long range salvos. Pordish naval weaponry naturally evolved to suit these needs; gun-based artillery forms one of the three great pillars of Nalydian offensive might together in conjunction with the combined shielding arrays themselves - Projector Array technology - and guided missile systems.
Individual Battle features prominently as well and has guided Nalydian tactical considerations since the very beginning. Individual Battle concerns the ability of singular warships to engage effectively on the field of battle without outside support. The doctrine emphasizes teamwork on the vessel level and seeks to ensure that the large warships of the VRZ, unwieldy as they are, fight against smaller more maneuverable foes or foes equipped with greater technology in a confident manner. With the emergence of heavier support ship complements, capital ships never really have the prospect of needing to fight alone, but this only has shifted Individual Battle from a singular focus to that of the independent capital ship with their baggage train.

Capital Ships
Capital ships form the backbone of any Pordish formation. These are the heavy battlecruisers and dreadnoughts of the fleet. These vessels range in size from dozens of kilometers to more than a few hundred kilometers and are very significant investments in both time and resources. Because of the investment, crews for these ships are often tied to them for life; entire generations of Pords are born, work, and die on these craft.

Rift Ships
Rift ships are the second pillar of the VRZ. The nature of the rift means that it must be patrolled and kept under tabs by forces wishing to project their strength out and away from their home systems. In the past Pords only fielded rift cruisers, but rift conflicts have proven that an entire branch of vessels is needed - dedicated cruisers, battleships, and dreadnoughts. Many of these rift ships, because of their specialization, are not capable of traversing real space.

Support Ships
Support ships comprise the types of vessels that allow the big-gun ships to do their job well. These are craft such as mobile ship yards, barrier frigates, interdictors, gates, relay ships, foundry ships and other similar craft that, for the most part, do not have direct combat capabilities. These types of craft are arranged into engineering detachments that are then attached to a parent capital ship and serve with their new parent vessels until either are scrapped, sold, or sunk. It is extremely rare for support ships to be traded among big-gun ships.
