The Capital, System Nalydya
The capital of Imperial Nalydya is none other than the planet Nalydya with the ancient of Tnem-Fragg upon her icy surface. Brought to the NS-1 universe by VRZ engineers,
Nalydya Prime
Surface Temperature: 12,329 Kelvin
Mass: 4.1 Solar Masses Luminosity: 200 Solar Luminosity Radius: 3.1 Solar Radii Geography
Nalydya is almost entirely ocean. The shallow World Ocean wraps the planet from pole to pole and is kept liquid by its exceedingly salty nature; a single primary continent, a grand plateau, rises out of the surrounding seas and is where Pords created their home.
This continent, Galachaaq, is comprised is mainly of rolling plains in the west and north and mountains in the east pushed up by plate tectonics and also giving rise to the Eastern Pordic Highlands and many vast glaciers. Major rivers include the Fragg, Kalaboch, Mylanoq, and Talnaq. Climate
Inland Nalydya is dominated by the cold temperatures and the windy currents from the Pordic Highlands. Vast cloud networks form over the mountains in the east that dump precipitation over the western lands and out over the ocean. Vast tundras dominate the center of the continent and serve as barrier against heavy habitation.
Biodiversity
Nalydya has many species of hardy plants and animals that call the planet home. Most plants that thrive on the planet do so near the oceans; further inland plants become increasingly sparse until the tundra line is reached near the central portions of the continent; very few plants can be found growing here.
The shallow seas are host to a wide array of plants and aquatic creatures suited to life in their briny extent; rarely exceeding depths of 100 meters the greater expanse of the seafloor is covered in various tall weeds that tower over a lush carpet of seagrass. There are over twelve thousand species of seagrass that grow beneath the chilly waves. On land there are creatures that graze upon the tundra weed and other dull shrubbery that have spread across the land; they themselves are preyed upon by sharp-toothed predators whose sizes range from the smallest of arctic foxes to the moderate tundra wolves up to the hulking white bears.
Moons
Nalydya has two moons - an ocean moon (Hol Nalydya) which serves as anchorage for vast VRZ boats and a smaller uninhabited rocky moon, Chor Nalydya.
Hol Nalydya is the further moon of the two and sits just within Nalydya's Hill Sphere. It is a large icy moon with a subsurface ocean that stretches for kilometers down to a rocky core. Chor Nalydya is a small loose collection of rock that is just about at the lower limit to fully form into a sphere. It does not serve the VRZ in any large capacity and instead is simply left to keep the tides of Nalydya intact. |
NalydyaOrbital Distance: 20 AU
Orbital Period: 125 Earth years; 1 Standard Pordic Year Radius: 8,160 km Day Length: 24 Earth hours Surface Temperature: -40 °c (average) Surface Gravity: 1.29 g Temperature Gradient: 2 °c to -136 °c Mass: 2.1 Earth masses Satellites: Hol Nalydya; Chor Nalydya Significance: - Capital of Imperial Nalydya - Cultural Hub - Spiritual Hub - VRZ Shipyards - Origin of Hunter Houses Habitation
Major cities on Nalydya include the national capital, Tnem-Fragg as well as many of the cities from which the major houses of Hunters hail - Mürsk, Zhyso, Nävysht and Yamsai - along with the famous population centers of Häzhel-nam Nalutz, Cha 'Suzt, L 'uzt and Chor Kanna Kazhel. These population centers and the other countless towns and villages dotting the countryside contain perhaps three billion Pords.
Nävysht is the third largest city on Nalydya and was built out in the tundra with nothing around it for myriad kilometers beyond barren tundra. It shines as a beacon for all those trekking across the cold and unforgiving landscape and has spawned a Great House, the Nävsh, of Pords who are just as hardy and resilient as the city from which they come. Yamsai is the second largest city on Nalydya and birthplace of perhaps the most famous of Great Houses, the Yamsai'an. Of all the major cities is the furthest north and sits in the center of a peninsula that juts far out into the world sea. The city houses the renowned Yamsai Northern School of Mobile Tactics, the premier academy for ZJR officers looking into becoming proficient commanders.
Mürsk traditionally has been a city viewed as impregnable; her tall walls have kept out the armies of many invaders and the Mürsk'an Hunters are adept at engineering and vast construction projects; because of their knowledge of construction Mürsk has become the economic center of the planet Nalydya and houses a very large percentage of the planetary factories and mines and is the central rail hub for all heavy traffic moving from one part of the continent to another.
The city-port of Zhyso is the largest Nalydian port along the shores of the great world sea, hence it is the only spaceport which duals as a wet naval port for the astro-amphibious fabriccraft of the VRZ. The city is the cultural hub of the nation and houses a rich variety of relics from the past and has its own long and storied history as complement; the city was founded by Zhyso the Great, a Hunter War-Lord who united the northern portion of the nation. In the heart of the city stands a statue in his honour.

Hol Ka 'SuztFar closer than Nalydya's 20AU orbit is the gas giant Hol Ka 'Suzt. This world is used mainly as a production and mining facility. The planet has one moon, Ha 'uzt, which once was another rocky planet that was captured by the gas giant's immense gravity. As the only solid land in the area, Ha 'Suzt is valuable for holding ground-based installations.
